Oklahoma City was just a stop over for one night but due to rain again we left Lake Catherine a day earlier than planned and stayed for 2 nights. We wanted to see the Route 66 route in the area so off we went. One thing for sure its nothing like I envisioned it would be.

The Round Barn

This was a really cool place probably the most favorite thing we seen.

The smallest Groceries store. Oh and it was almost 20 miles away in a totally different place. But we finally found it.

So after a couple of days in Oklahoma City we moved on to Amarillo, Texas and headed to Palo Duro State Park, Texas. When I made reservations for this campground I could only get 2 nights for the time frame we wanted to be in the area. If ever in the area again we would stay a little longer. The views were just amazing! The only down side was no cellphone service but it was nice to just unplugged for a couple of days.

The drive down. 8 miles down the canyon from the checkin point.

We took a hike to the lighthouse.

Every where the views were amazing

Just over 6 miles in we are at the lighthouse.

We wanted to try the Big Texan Steakhouse and when I made reservations at Palo Duro I figured we would just drive over for dinner but after the long drive to get there from the interstate we decided we would stay in town at the Big Texan RV park and take the limousine over to the Steakhouse since it was free. Well the ride was nice but our driver wasnt anything special and actually he was every bit boring and very disappointed in the whole experience especially after we seen other drivers with there guests being picked up. Oh well… we made the best of it.

I had to ask the driver to take our picture. Then after he climbed out of the car I could see why he didn’t want to get out of the car. 🙄
All the food you would have to eat to get it free.

Our time is up in Amarillo and we are heading further west to Albuquerque, New Mexico so follow along and what we find along the way.
